This week see the majority of teams open up in the 1st round of the AM Print & Copy Sponsored Knockout Cup and this has provided some tasty match ups to look forward to.
Chippenham Icons FC vs The Castle FC
A match which sees Chippenham Icons, whose start to life in the Premier Division has not gone to plan so far with 2 defeats from 2, teeing off against a Castle side with the Division 2 outfit not finding goals hard to come by.
It is widely believed that if The Icons can have their full strength squad then they will be able to pick up a morale boosting 1st win of the season but if Chris Allen can continue where he left off last week then an upset id certainly very possible.
FC Box vs Sutton Benger FC
This will be somewhat of a revenge for FC Box off of the back of their two losses in last seasons Gooding Accounts Sponsored Subsidiary Cup Sponsored Subsidiary Cup Group Stage under their former guise of Spartak Rudloe against Sutton Benger.
A return of some CDSFL legends namely Simon Gray who scored a hat-trick in the opening game and keeping him quiet could the key in Benger picking up a result.
Benger do have Ethan Jones back from injury who they hope will give them an injection of confidence going into Sunday’s match.
FC Lacock vs Steeple Ashton FC
It is hard to see anything other than progression into round 2 for FC Lacock who have started the season with 2 wins and plenty of goals to boot.
Steeple Ashton did start their season with a narrow win last week but with a couple of divisions separating these two teams, it is thought that it will be a difficult task keeping Lacock at bay in this encounter.
Fox & Hounds (Warminster) FC vs Westbury Celtic FC
Fox & Hounds of Division 2 were amongst the goals last week but that still was not enough to see them even claim 1 point in their opening league match.
They take on Westbury Celtic of Division 3 and the bias leans towards Fox & Hounds moving into round 2.
Kingfisher FC vs Dyson Institute FC
Kingfisher were the team on the winning side of an 11 goal thriller last week to get their first points on the board for the season.
Dyson Institute did score 4 goals of their own in defeat but it is not thought this will be enough to topple their opponents from the division above.
Lavis FC vs Beeches FC
A few injury worries has seen Beeches make a slow start to the current season and if they are still struggling to field their strongest team then this suggests that progression will go to Aaron Latchem’s side come the final whistle.
Misfits FC vs Sporting Box FC
Misfits will be hoping to cause an upset but it is difficult to see anything other than a resounding win for their opponents in this round 1 fixture.
Sporting Box come in off of the back of a narrow 3-2 loss to Division 1 favourites Lavis and this will surely give them the confidence moving into this match against their Division 3 opposition.
Old Road FC P-P FC Devizes United
Royal Oak FC vs Audley FC
Despite two divisions separating these two sides this match is a potential blockbuster in the making with both sides making perfect starts to their seasons.
Semington FC vs Pack Horse FC
A tough start to the season for Semington would probably have a betting man with eyes on Pack Horse to progress.
The British Lion FC vs FC Biddestone
Home win seems the most plausible outcome at Green Lane Playing Fields.
Spires Athletic FC vs Staverton Rangers (Sunday) FC
Beversbrook plays host to a highly anticipated matchup with two of the leagues newcomers coming up against each other.
Spires Athletic have had a mixed bag with experiencing the winning feeling in week 1 against higher opposition being followed by a loss to the impressive British Lion last week.
Staverton Rangers on the other hand have scored plenty of goals with Ricky Montacute proving to be a player to watch but Spires will be buoyed by a defence that has also conceded 5 goals in 2 outings so far.
Warminster Athletic vs Calne Athletic
Stuart Green’s Warminster Athletic will be looking to draw on last weeks 9-2 victory to give them the impetus of reaching round 2.
And with Calne Athletic shipping 19 goals so far it is hard to see them coming away from this match with much to shout about despite holding divisional higher ground against their opponents.
