Open Division 2 To Get Underway This Sunday – Week 1

The Shoestrings-Chargrill sponsored Chippenham & District Sunday Football League gets underway this Sunday and although the Wiltshire FA Sunday Cup has taken a whole host of CDSFL teams there are are handful of matches that will get the season under way.

Fox & Hounds (Warminster) FC vs Calne Athletic FC

Division 2 kicks of this weekend and many certainly feel this division is up for grabs by a host of teams so both Fox & Hounds (Warminster) and Calne Athletic will be looking to open up the season with a win.

With a squad of 33 players, it remains to be seen what team Mark Davies will be putting out for the seasons opener but one would like to think that with that many to choose from, a fairly competent team should be achievable.

Calne Athletic will be hoping that a few good results in pre season is a sign of things to come and it is looking like a bit of consistency with the squad personnel may be about to pay dividends in the coming season.

The Castle FC vs FC Box

The Castle FC will be looking to take their tag of pre-season favourites into their opening game of the new season, hoping they can carry on from where they left off in last season’s curtailed campaign. They will be looking to Matthew Tilley to fire the goals to at least get them three points this Sunday.

Formerly Spartak Rudloe, FC Box have signed a few players form the successful Corsham Centre era with Simon Gray, Adrian Webb and James Lye joining the ranks. If they can rekindle that form from the past then this FC Box side could well be the surprise package of this division.
